About Hatfield Group

We are New York-based, WBE-certified structural, facades, and MEP/FP studio. We partner with architects and developers to deliver ambitious, sustainable, and enduring buildings through design-driven engineering.

Our team of 35 engineers is equipped to deliver large-scale and complex projects ranging from stadiums to mixed-use towers, academic buildings, museums, civic institutions, pavilions, and sculptural installations. Our partners have direct, hands-on involvement throughout the project timeline, bringing the full breadth of their experience to bear on every one of our projects.

Erleen Hatfield launched Hatfield Group in 2018 after her time as a partner at Buro Happold. She brings her experience engineering some of the world’s most complex buildings to the studio’s boutique culture and design-driven process. She is certified as both a professional engineer and a registered architect and has co-taught Systems Integration at Yale School of Architecture with Martin Finio, FAIA for over 12 years. We are WBE-certified with New York City, New York State, and with the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), which is honored by jurisdictions and institutions throughout the United States. We are also JUST, a designation for firms that socially just and equitable organizations.

Hatfield Group is a signatory to the SE2050 Commitment, one of the AEC industry’s most ambitious sustainability initiatives. The commitment supports the Carbon Leadership Forum’s 2050 Challenge and aims to reduce embodied carbon in buildings.

Erleen Hatfield, PE, AIA, f. asce | Managing Partner

Erleen Hatfield is the Managing Partner of the Hatfield Group.  She has over 25 years of experience in the design of complex structures worldwide. She is both a licensed engineer and architect with a deep appreciation of the value of design and technical excellence.  Her open minded approach to design enables clients to explore options to find the best fit for their project.  Erleen brings an extensive understanding of the evolving state of industry research and building codes, sitting on code committees and engineering research non-profits boards. 

Her experience includes over 12 years at Thornton Tomasetti engineers and 10 years as a Partner at Buro Happold.

She has taught Systems Integration courses at the Yale School of Architecture with Martin Finio for over 15 years.  She speaks frequently on innovation in architecture and structural engineering.

Manan Raval, PE | Partner, Facades

Manan Raval has over 19 years of experience and leads the Hatfield Group facades and building envelopes team. He is recognized as an industry expert in facade design, specialty glass systems and complex structures. He has led numerous projects in New York City and worldwide with complex scopes of work.  Manan’s has sucessfully completed projects across a diverse range of climatic conditions in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Bahamas, Asia and the Middle East. He is recognized by his clients as a dynamic leader who provides sound, progressive insight to help develop and achieve cost effective, sustainable, building envelope solutions. He has previously worked at ARUP, CH2MHill and BuroHappold.

Rebecca Jones, SE, PE, LEED BD+C | partner, Structures

Rebecca Jones leads Hatfield Group’s structural engineering teams to deliver institutional, mixed-use, stadium, and multi-family residential projects across the United States and around the world. She has over 15 years experience designing complex and high-performance structural systems for projects including supertall towers, comprehensive renovations, and buildings in seismically active zones. She previously served as Senior Project Manager at Simpson, Gumpertz & Heger and Senior Associate at Thornton Tomasetti, where she led projects including the 1.8-million-square-foot tower 10 Hudson Yards and Al Faisaliah, a 100-meter-tall hotel and retail building in Riyadh.

 
 

MICHAEL T. MCGOUGH, PE | PARTNER, MEP/FP

Michael T. McGough, PE leads Hatfield Group’s MEP/FP studio. Michael approaches building design with creativity, passion and technical expertise. With over 35 years of experience designing MEP systems for commercial, hospitality, educational, cultural, and data center facilities, he contributes a unique perspective that focuses on balancing the client’s needs, user comfort, energy use, and costs. Prior to joining Hatfield Group, Michael was based in Southeast Asia where he held senior positions in Thailand and Vietnam with Aurecon Group, one of Asia-Pacific’s largest and most prominent engineering firms. Most recently he was the Global Delivery Center MEP and E&I Practice Leader, responsible for delivering large-scale complex projects including several hyper-scale data center campuses, commercial/residential developments, the central utilities plant for a 22 million-square-foot mixed-use development, and an array of diverse projects across Australia, New Zealand, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Singapore. He has global experience that spans North America, Central Europe, Middle East, India and the APAC region. Prior to his time with Aurecon, he was a Partner at Buro Happold based in NYC.

Martin Finio, FAIA | Design Partner

Martin Finio is the Design Partner at the Hatfield Group.  His role is to create and oversee a design-forward culture that quickly responds to our clients goals.  Martin will use his 25 years of award winning design experience to facilitate a collaborative and synthesized engineering process.

He is a graduate of the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture at the Cooper Union.  Finio spent nearly a decade at the office of Tod Williams and Billie Tsien.  Since 1999, he has been a partner at the award winning firm, Christoff-Finio architects. Awards received include Architectural Record’s Design Vanguard award, The Architectural League’s Emerging Voices award, and a 2014 Arts and Letters Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.  In 2016 he was elevated to the AIA's College of fellows for his contributions to design and architectural education.

He has taught both studio classes and Systems Integration for nearly twenty years at the Yale School of Architecture. He will bring his highly collaborative approach to the Hatfield Group.
